Through internships with Nomura and Wells Fargo, Santacruz gained hands-on experience in both institutional investment banking and consumer finance. At Nomura, she supported financial analysis and deal execution in the Financial Institutions Group. At Wells Fargo, she expanded her expertise by supporting co-branded credit card offerings and partnerships through the lens of the Airline, Hotel, and Leisure sectors.
Together, these experiences provided her with a 360-degree view of the financial ecosystem. Santacruz was able to set the stage for a career that would span deal execution and industry diversity.
Empowering women in finance
Santacruz has demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion in finance from the outset of her career, having built a resume rooted in leadership and advocacy through the extracurricular activities and organizations she was involved with during her collegiate experience. At Cornell, she served as the university’s representative to the State University of New York Student Assembly (SUNY SA), advocating on behalf of the 1.3 million students that make up the university’s system.
Additionally, as Director of Outreach and Communications for Professional Development of Women (PDOW) at Cornell, she championed the financial literacy and career development of all women. She was also a two-time elected member of Cornell’s Student Assembly, where she helped shape campus policies and mentored students from historically underrepresented communities.
“I entered a traditionally male-dominated industry like finance with leadership roles in mind,” Santacruz explains.
Knowing the benefits of diversity well, Santacruz continued her dedication to inclusion for women and other marginalized groups in a workspace that has traditionally been defined by its lack of diversity in leadership. She champions the idea that better company performance always follows a commitment to hiring diverse talent, upholding gender equity, and honoring diverse perspectives.

“I always strive to embody servant leadership,” Santacruz says. “Collaboration and mentorship aren’t optional. They are core to building something lasting. I live by the principle that a rising tide lifts all boats.”

In that spirit, she led a successful fundraising campaign for Second Wind Cottages, Inc., a nonprofit organization supporting unhoused and at-risk individuals in upstate New York.
“Financial expertise should benefit more than just your firm or your clients,” she says. “It should create value for the broader community.”
