Lumebox review and if it’s worth it

Sharing my full thoughts on the Lumebox after two years and if I think it’s worth it! If you’ve been wanting to add one to your collection, check it out here

Hi friends! How are you? I hope you’re having an amazing week.

For today’s post, I wanted to share an updated Lumebox review now that I’ve been using it for two years It’s been one of my favorite things to stack into my morning wellness routine, and I love it even more than I thought I would.

The short answer: yes, I think it’s worth it if you want red light therapy you can use at home (and take with you when you travel). It won’t replace a big full-body panel, but for skin, sore muscles, and my morning routine, it’s the one I reach for.

Here’s what my current routine looks like:

  • Eye care routine
  • Get the kids packed up and off to school
  • Breakfast – almost always a protein pudding with Daily Nutritional Support, Truvani, Nuttzo and berries + decaf Danger Coffee
  • Recharge time: sit on the PEMF mat (code FITNESSISTA15) with my Lumebox, meditate for about 10 minutes, and journal for about 5 minutes

It’s only a 15-minute routine but really makes a difference in my mood and energy for the rest of the day! Here are some more details about Lumebox.

Lumebox review and if it's worth it

What is Lumebox?

Lumebox is a compact and powerful red light therapy device designed for at-home use and travel, because it’s portable. It delivers targeted red and near-infrared (NIR) light to support skin health, muscle recovery, and overall well-being. It’s beautifully designed with medical-grade LED technology, and is super easy to use.

Key features of Lumebox

  • Dual Wavelength Technology: Combines red light (660nm) and near-infrared light (850nm) for deeper penetration and enhanced benefits.
  • Portable and Lightweight: Small enough to use on the go but powerful enough for full treatment sessions.
  • Timer Function: It automatically shuts off after 6 minutes.
  • Low EMF Emission: Designed for safe use with minimal electromagnetic field exposure.
  • USB Charging: Convenient and rechargeable for wireless use.
  • Handle! This makes it super easy to hold.

How red light therapy can benefit you

Red light therapy has been widely studied and shown to potentially support multiple areas of health, including:

  • Skin Health: Can reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and hyperpigmentation by stimulating collagen production.
  • Muscle Recovery: Can speed up post-workout recovery and reduces inflammation.
  • Pain Relief: Can help alleviate joint pain, muscle soreness, and stiffness by promoting circulation and reducing inflammation.
  • Hormonal Balance: May support adrenal health and reduce stress-related inflammation.
  • Sleep and Mood Support: Can enhance melatonin production and helps regulate circadian rhythms.

How to use Lumebox

Using Lumebox is simple and only takes a few minutes per day:

  1. Ensure the treatment area is clean and dry.
  2. Hold or place the device 6–12 inches from the target area.
  3. Decide if you want to use red light, or NIR (which isn’t visible and used for deeper skin penetration), or both
  4. Let the red and NIR light work its magic while you unwind.
  5. For best results, use 3–5 times per week.

How much does Lumebox cost?

The Lumebox device is priced at around $629. While it is an investment, it is significantly more affordable than in-office red light therapy sessions, which can range from $50–$150 per session. If you’ve been wanting one, you can check the current price here.

Lumebox pros and cons

Pros:

  • Compact and travel-friendly
  • Effective red and near-infrared light wavelengths
  • Easy to use with adjustable intensity
  • Affordable compared to professional treatments
  • Helps with skin, muscle recovery, and overall health

Cons:

  • May take a few weeks to see noticeable results
  • Not as powerful as larger, full-body red light panels
  • Higher upfront cost compared to some other at-home devices

My honest thoughts: is Lumebox worth it?

I absolutely love it and have found it to be helpful for mood, aches, and pains. I feel pretty great (knock on wood) but after teaching multiple barre classes, my hips were aching. I used the Lumebox and they were good as new the next day 😉 While it may not replace high-end, full-body panels, I think it provides an effective solution for friends out there seeking skin, muscle recovery, and overall health benefits from red light therapy.

We use the Lumebox for headaches, period cramps, stomachaches, skin healing (wound recovery), and Maisey loves it, too. She snuggles up as soon as I get it out!

Who Lumebox is best for

I think Lumebox is a great fit if:

  • You want red light therapy at home without paying $50–$150 per session
  • You travel and want something you can pack
  • You want to target specific spots (sore hips after barre, I see you) instead of standing in front of a panel

If you’re looking for full-body sessions, a larger panel probably makes more sense.

Lumebox vs. my other red light devices

I also have the HigherDose red light face mask, red light neck enhancer, and red light cap. Those are great when I want to focus on one area hands-free. The Lumebox is the one I use for everything else (sore muscles, cramps, headaches) because I can point it wherever I need it.

Should you wear eye protection with Lumebox?

There are some studies indicating that red light can be beneficial for eye health but from what I can tell, it’s not an approved eye treatment. At the same time, you guys know I’m super weird and protective of my eyes ever since the great eye saga. Also, even if red light directly into your eyeballs is approved, I won’t be the first one standing in line to try it. I don’t wear the eye protection, but I also don’t stare into the light. I hold it at about a 45 degree angle so it’s not shining directly into my face. It also includes protective goggles you can wear.

Lumebox FAQs

How long is a Lumebox session?

It has a built-in timer and shuts off after 6 minutes, so each session is quick.

How often should you use Lumebox?

For best results, 3–5 times per week. I use it during my morning recharge time.

How far away should you hold it?

About 6–12 inches from the area you’re treating.

Does Lumebox come with goggles?

Yes, it includes protective goggles you can wear.

Discover The World’s Smallest “Mountain” – The Mount Paltry

Discover The World’s Smallest “Mountain” – The Mount Paltry Move over Everest, there’s a new headline-grabber in town and it’s barely taller than you are. Mount Paltry has exploded on social media as the world’s smallest mountain , a tiny bump in Australia that has become internet-famous precisely because it looks… well, not very mountain-like at all. In a world obsessed with extreme hikes and record-breaking peaks, this modest mound has captured global attention by doing the exact opposite: being proudly underwhelming. Where on Earth Is Mount Paltry? Mount Paltry is described in viral posts as a miniature mountain in Australia, rising only a few metres above the surrounding land. It’s usually shown as a small, rounded rise in an otherwise flat landscape the kind of bump you might expect to call a hill, or even “just a bit of ground,” rather than a mountain. That’s exactly why people love it: the contrast between the dramatic title “world’s smallest mountain” and the very ordinar...

Glamorous Plus-Size Wedding Guest Dresses in Beautiful Styles

Glamorous Plus-Size Wedding Guest Dresses in Beautiful Styles Did you know that over 67% of women in the U.S. wear a size 14 or larger? Yet, despite the demand, the fashion industry has been slow to provide elegant, well-fitting, and on-trend plus- size wedding guest dresses. Many women face limited choices, ill-fitting designs, and outdated silhouettes that fail to highlight their curves. Shopping for the perfect dress can feel like navigating a minefield either the options lack style, the fit is off, or the available dresses don’t align with the formality of the event. For years, plus-size women have been told to “hide” their curves instead of celebrating them. Traditional formalwear often lacks the structure, comfort, or aesthetic appeal needed to make plus-size wedding guests feel just as glamorous as their straight-size counterparts. The frustration of sifting through uninspiring racks, struggling with restrictive fabrics, or settling for ill- proportioned designs is all too fami...
